Roses

My birthday was on February 11th, and I had an amazing photo shoot with Nader at NBMA Photography. I'm soo obsessed with this photo from that day.

I also received flowers from my dad that morning. Naturally, they ended up in a self portrait photo shoot.

The above image is discouraging me from adding more furniture to my bedroom. It's the perfect little studio during midday (above) and in the morning (below).

It's so flawless. If I learned nothing else in Italy, I learned that if a piece of art is displayed in a space it ought to be in the same direction of light as is in the image itself. Brilliant, Italy. Brilliant.

Mike

This week I came across a photographer from Montana who was in Phoenix for work. We met up and photographed each other in Scottsdale around Old Town.

At one point (the point from the above set) he was photographing me in another part of the tree, and I found his stance so comical (the foot linked below the branch and leaning out to the side) that I had to photograph him there.

He was totally out of his element because if you check out his work (@mikeygraef) you will see that he does a lot of moody/dark/landscape type images. Those kinds of landscapes are commonplace up north, but when you come to Phoenix you better prepare for some sunny desert stuff.

It worked out well, though, because as much as he was out of his element trying to shoot urban desert I was out of my element shooting a male. I do photograph men occasionally, but it's not a particular skill of mine.

I'll let you guys know where to find his shots of me when he gets those worked on.

Solange

I had the most amazing, effortless, brilliant shoot the other day with Solange (@solange_marie_). We got such an amazing variety of photos while wandering through Old Town Scottsdale. It was about 72 degrees and the light was BEAUTIFUL. I can't believe I live in Arizona and can do a shoot like this in January. It's just insane. I'll never move north.

We went to Sip Coffee & Beer House to start and wandered through their courtyard (and onto a roof) before heading to The White House Collective. The buildings around Sip are super colorful and contrasty while around White House it is all very white with green plant accents. Both scenes were fantastic.

We finished our shoot with a couple of mochas at the newest coffee shop in Scottsdale, Four Till Four.

This is not the last you'll see of Solange.
