Jackie: Sip Beer & Coffee House Barista

The other day I had the pleasure of photographing this adorable barista from my new favorite coffee shop, Sip. When we discussed styling for her shoot she was wearing a hat, and I told her she had to bring it. Isn't she adorable?

Often, if someone tells me they're good at posing, or if they pose themselves, then it looks not so great. However, that is not the case for people who have been photographed a lot. Like, a lot, a lot. Jackie was so good at posing herself that I would suggest things and then go, ya know, do that thing you just did naturally instead.

UPDATE: Got my roll of film back that I also shot that day. Most of the images on the roll were destroyed because I went to Walgreens (like a true professional), and the machine broke while developing it. I've learned to never rely on film and to be excited when anything turns out at all. So, I'm THRILLED to share the images below that survived processing.

Getting Situated in Arizona

This week, I made it a point to go to a different cafe every day to try and meet some people from the Phoenix area. On Thursday, I went to this cafe/restaurant called The Henry. It was pretty impressive and appeared to be geared towards those looking for a nice business lunch. A guy sitting across from me and I started chatting, and I soon learned that he knew just about everyone who came in and out of there. He introduced me to this guy (John):

Who, in turn, introduced me to this guy (Meghdad):

...and also this beer and coffee house.

These two are developing an app called Feel Free which is a networking app that connects people in the same location to aid us folks with anxiety around initiating conversation.

The best part is that John studied abroad in Italy (like me), and Meghdad speaks Italian. So, I can talk about Italy without feeling pretentious! Jackpot.

Tori and Collin iPhoneography

I did something completely irrational the other day and asked my friend Tori if she wanted to do a quick iPhone shoot with her boyfriend since it was my last day in Illinois and I didn't have my real photographer gear. Ever enthusiastic she said yes.

So, below you will find images captured on my iPhone 6 that were indeed edited the normal boring computer way. I'll share some of the before and afters so you can really appreciate it.

I love that these are still killer shots. I particularly love the black and white ones. They edited really well, too. I just need to find out how large I can print these without pixelation...
